Sarah Tejada graduated from The University of Rhode Island in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Settings. She has over 18 years of experience working in the early childhood field. Sarah started New Beginnings in her hometown of Cumberland, Rhode Island in order to meet the needs of children and their families in the community and to fulfill her life long goal of educating children and providing quality care.
During her hands-on experience working with young children and families along with college studies is when Sarah realized she had a love for children and their families. The beginning of her career started as a teacher assistant and worked her way to an Administrator in the daycare setting. She has extensive educational preparation and practical experiences in early childhood growth and development through her studies, training's, and experience as an early childhood education teacher and Administrator in a play based childcare setting. As an Administrator Sarah has gained experience and knowledge overseeing a facility and leading a team of caregivers.
Sarah has two amazing boys of her own, and a supportive and loving husband. She has spent several years on the opposite side, being a parent in early childhood education. Sarah understands the importance of a child's family. The family is the first teacher, the most important in a child's life. She understand the importance that early childhood has on each individual child's future for success. Sarah is delighted to offer a high quality, play based program. She looks forward to making a positive and educational impact on all children who enter her doors. Let's play, learn, grow, and explore together!
The early years of a child’s life is their foundation for success. We believe each child is an individual who is learning and exploring. New Beginnings believes that children learn through play which promotes social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development along with language development. Safety of all children is a top priority at New Beginnings. As an early childhood provider, we will value and develop each child’s strengths, interests, skills, knowledge, and abilities to extend their love for learning. Children will be given opportunities for a new beginning to explore, discover, create, and imagine. Children will gain knowledge of cultural beliefs and explore the benefits of diversity which allows children to understand and acknowledge differences. New Beginning's will support opportunities for all children, which will increase the knowledge and understanding of each child individually all through the work of play.
A child’s environment plays a distinguished role in their learning success. Our environment will enhance a child’s growth in all developmental domains for lifelong success. We believe learning is provided in a variety of ways where children can explore and revisit experiences hands-on, visually, auditory, verbal, logical, social, and solitary. All activities are meaningful where children can master new challenges which builds their self-esteem.
Children will be given choices, opportunities, and responsibilities to initiate their learning. The schedule provides children with constituency and structure along with on demand scheduling especially for infants. Children will be given child driven and teacher driven opportunities and the schedule will be adjusted based on the needs of the children. Our curriculum is created based on the needs of all children which is aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning Developmental Standards (RIELDS). Observations help aid in the creating as well as give insight on the individual child’s development, knowledge, strengths, and skills level.
Our staff establish positive personal relationships with all families and children, nurture each child’s growth and development, and educate. New Beginnings staff enjoy all aspects of childcare from taking care of a child’s needs, cleaning, and organizing. Loving, nurturing, compassionate, dedicated, creative, motivated, and innovative are just a few words that describe our teachers.
Children need the promise of being loved and cared for while feeling trust and safety. Educating and caring for children is our passion. Families are a vital aspect of our program. A parent/guardian is a child’s first teacher. Families play a significant role in their child’s development and learning. You are their first experience as they enter their world.
New Beginning's will support opportunities for all children, which will increase the knowledge and understanding of each child individually all through the work of play.
